Lake Whitney Fishing Reports

We finally have the website up and going!  I will try to keep these fishing reports up to date from here on out.  I hope they help you find more fish!  Good Luck and we will see you out on the lake.

~~~Week Of July 19-25~~~
Nicer weather this week, had small front move through Whitney and cool things off just a bit.  The thermo cline is firmly in place and the fish are holding to it.  Did some live bait fishing this week.  We fished with live shad between 4''-6'' dropping them to about 18'.  We used the kicker motor to do some controlled drifting and it paid off with some really nice stripers.  I still have a couple of days in this week. I just had a chance to make a post before I head back to the Lake for the weekend fishing. I will update when I get back.
~~~Week Of July 12-18~~~

The pattern on Lake Whitney Stripers firmed up this week.  Stripers were holding on deep drops and points in just over 20 feet of water.  The White Bass seem to have moved up the lake some where I have found them feeding on very large schools of tiny shad (up to 1'').  The Stripers averaged 5lbs with the top end fish just under ten pounds.  Lots of undersized fish.  Downriggers very effective this week.

~~~July 3rd-7th~~~
We fished pretty hard the last four days and Lake Whitney never fails to surprise.  There were some changes in the weather pattern that we have been under for a couple of weeks.  Had some rain, cloud cover and a little cooler temperatures.   The white bass were still feeding on the surface a lot, but not nearly as concentrated as a week before.  They would blow up and feed then disappear almost as quickly.  Fishing was good for Whites using downriggers and small spoons or plugs.  Stripers really turned on this weekend.  Landed some fish over ten pounds, but most were in the 18''-20'' range.  They liked lures trolled over structure in about thirty feet of water.  Glad to see them schooling up, we landed at least ten nice stripers every trip this weekend.
"Triple Digit Temperatures and Fishing"
Lake Whitney really fired up this week.  The fish were either completely off or completely ON.  Most notable was Friday morning's trip.  We had three and a half to four hours of hard fishing and about when we were ready to call it a day, we found some schools of fish feeding and birds working.  Before it was over, the schools of White Bass were feeding over about thirty-five to forty acres of lake.  Large schools and small schools popping up here and there and then moving on.  We were able to stay on them until everyone on the boat had given out.  Topwater plugs, Shad Swimbaits, Little Georges, and Humdingers were all readily accepted.  It was a great way to end up the trip!
Lake Whitney Fishing Report
"Hot, Hot, and More Hot with some Wind"
Fished hard Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The Stripers seem to have moved some this week possibly to some deeper water. Monday was good on the South end for Stripers up to 12 pounds and Whites in good numbers. Mostly trolling with downriggers over structure. Tuesday morning had some
success with live shad, but wasn't able to control drift as well as I like due to the wind. Fished Tuesday afternoon and had luck trolling with downriggers until just after sundown when the bite died. We ended up catching some 19-20'' Stripers and good numbers of White Bass. Tried some Catfishing
after bite died off but didn't have much luck. Fished until Midnight or so. Wednesday Fished until 2:00pm. Began targeting White Bass and had a very good morning. Around lunchtime, fish seemed to move to some deep structure. We began drifting live shad and hooked up some more White Bass and
a handful of Stripers up to 22''. All in all, a good start to the week considering it was hot and pretty windy on Lake Whitney.
